Watching Star Gate Atlantis

The television science fiction, Stargate Atlantis is an exciting and interesting series to watch. It is unfortunate that it ended in season 5. I was looking forward to their exploration of the Pegasus galaxy, a detente with the Wraith and discovery of more Ancient technology. The interactions between the characters were also just getting interesting. This series is like its predecessor, Stargate SG1 but much more exciting and have more science. One may actually identify with the characters. Guess the threat comes closer to home. In Stargate SG1, the villains are the Ga'uld, an evil alien race that wants to make slaves of humans. In Stargate Atlantis, the villains are the Wraith, an alien race that feeds on the life energies of humans! Human as cheap labour as opposed to human for food. What more do we want?

Stargate Atlantis followed the adventures of a human expedition to the lost city of Atlantis in the Pegasus Galaxy. The Stargate has brought humanity into contact with other cultures, including new and powerful enemies: the Wraith, the Genii, and later the Asurans and a lost tribe of Asgard, all while trying to uncover the secrets the Ancients left behind.

Stargate Atlantis premiered on the US Sci Fi Channel on July 16, 2004 with "Rising", a movie-style two-part episode, that guest starred Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks from Stargate SG-1.

On January 9, 2009, after 100 episodes and five seasons, the series ended.
