  1. I often wish that the government would come up with a definitive book that explains what the "heresies" are and answer them and show from the Quran what "the truth" is.

  2. Hi Paul,

I do too. Unfortunately there is no such definitive book. In the meantime, we have to make do with the decisions of the government and those who speak for them.

  3. I am not sure how the rest of you think but I find it very medieval. Looking at the titles of the books it would seem to be the Malaysian Muslim version of the Index Librorum Prohibitorum.

Why then should we be surprised when deep conservatism and feudalism hold such deep sway among some segments of our society?

  4. Hi Bob K,

Should we be surprised at the deep conservativism and feudalism in our country? We see it too in our Christian faith communities.

Book banning has been done for a long time. What they do not realise is that while they can ban ink and paper, but they can never ban ideas. It is ideas that change the world.

    Blessings

  5. Yep .. I would include these folks in my definition of "some segments of our society". Its just that they lack the clout to ban the books they'd like to see banned :D

  6. Hi Bob K,

I am sure you can suggest some of the books our Christian censors will ban :)

  7. If PAS does not exist would these books be banned? Is it done to show the the majority that the ruling party is also concerned about religious matters?

  8. hi blogpastor,

No, I believe that the books banning will go on even if PAS did not exist. This is not a show that the majority rule is keeping an eye on things but the work of a conscientious religious department concerned about the purity of their beliefs.

  9. Yeah it is like some segments of the Christian community that tries to "preserve" what they deemed as "orthodoxy".

  10. hi keropok lekor,

It is one thing to want to 'preserve' orthodoxy but another to have a closed mind. Theology should be always growing and developing. I always like the words semper reformanda . Reformed and always reforming.
